Welcome to River Forest High School, we have served the students and community of the River Forest Community School Corporation since 1959. River Forest High School is the secondary school in the River Forest Community School Corporation, serving the entire town of New Chicago, portions of Gary, Hobart, and Lake Station, and unincorporated areas in Hobart Township, Lake County; it opened in 1959. River Forest High School is a building of true professionals that serve approximately 500 students 9th through 12th grade. We are the flagship school of the River Forest Community School Corporation.
We offer a multitude of support systems and services to assist an assortment of students learning needs. These include, but are not limited to before and after school athletics, co-curricular, and extra-curricular, activities, breakfast, speech therapy, English as a New Language, remediation, and enrichment opportunities, such as Honors, (AP) Advanced Placement, (DC) Dual Credit, (CTE) Career and Tech Ed courses daily based upon your child's individual learning needs. These services along with the support of parents, who continue education as a priority at home, reinforce the vision, mission, and goals that drive us each day.
Our mission is to provide opportunities for every student to realize their full potential in academic growth, social/emotional growth, and physical well-being. We are committed to preparing our children to be lifelong learners who will be productive citizens in a rapidly changing global community.
Our staff seeks to inspire youth, who are facing critical risks of this generation, to a higher standard by enabling them to recognize their true value and the impact of the decisions they are making today. As our future leaders, our desire is to educate and equip students to make wise, life-giving choices that build the foundation for college and career readiness. With a student centered philosophy, we look forward to "building the whole child," and expect to continue to develop a "Culture of Excellence" among staff and students alike by doing "Whatever it Takes."
