Mr. Duron-Rainwater grew up in Portage, Indiana and graduated from Portage High School in 1992. He completed three years of teacher preparation in the Elementary Education program before switching to the Behavioral Science program and graduated from Purdue University North Central in 2002 with a Bachelor of Liberal Studies. After graduating college, he worked in the social services sector as a case manager for both the Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County and Porter-Starke Services. He returned to college and completed the Mild Interventions program at Indiana University Northwest in 2005. He graduated from Indiana University Northwest in 2014 with a Master of Science in Education.
Mr. Duron-Rainwater is starting his fifteenth year with NISEC and has served in the positions of Educational Diagnostician, Teacher of Emotional Disabilities, and Mild Interventions Teacher. Mr. Duron-Rainwater was the recipient of the IN*Source Education Award in October 2004 and was recognized as a Teacher of Excellence by the Kenneth J. Allen law group in September 2015. Mr. Duron-Rainwater teaches Algebra I & II ESS and provides LRE support in select courses in the general education setting, and is responsible for the implementation of IEPs for students on his caseload. Mr. Duron-Rainwater enjoys photography, yoga, is a coffee enthusiast, and an avid Star Wars fan. He volunteers as a side walker at Reins of Life for his nephew Andrew's equine therapy. He and his husband live in Portage with their cats Teela, Diego, and Bo.
