Ridge Road/37th Ave Paving Project Ridge Rd/37th Ave Paving Project will begin Monday, November 13th, 2023 at 6am. The contractor will be starting on the outside (right) lanes and will have all of the intersections on the north and south side of the road closed during that portion of the construction project. The detour route will be to take Tyler St to Lake Park Ave to Ridge Rd. When coming into town from Ridge Rd, you will want to take Ridge Rd to Lake Park Ave to Tyler St. New Chicago, Lake Station, and Hobart emergency services have all been notified of these closures to ensure that they take the appropriate routes to get to and from New Chicago as required. The total expected length of time for the project is two weeks. The project scope is the repaving all lanes of Ridge Rd and also the replacement of ADA ramps at intersections that currently have them. All time frames for the project are weather dependent. For more information, please contact the New Chicago Town Hall or the council person for your ward.

Good afternoon, RF Families! We are asking for your assistance in helping us maintain student dress code. The number one issue is blankets right now. Unfortunately, our admin team has been fighting the losing battle of students bringing blankets to school and wearing them draped around their shoulders. This seems like an innocent replacement for a jacket/sweater, but unfortunately, the students use them as "cover" to vape in class and other negative behaviors. If your student does not have an appropriate jacket or winter coat, please contact us and we will connect you with resources to obtain one. Additionally, we are seeing students wearing hats, hoods, and sunglasses indoors. This will not be allowed, and students will be asked to remove them, or refrain from wearing hoodies at all to avoid the issue. As always, shirts are expected to cover the mid-section, pants must be pulled up to the waist, and no profanity or drug/alcohol references will be tolerated. We do understand that these are children. We want them to be comfortable and express their individuality. However, these measures are to ensure and maintain a safe and professional environment. Do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, and thank you for your support, Gaelyn Mlynarcik and Randy Horka
