River Forest Community Members,

We want to make you aware of a series of meetings being hosted by the New Chicago Town Council regarding the possible creation of a Fire Protection Territory in partnership with New Chicago and Lake Station.

River Forest Community School Corporation anticipates that the creation of this Fire Territory could have a significant negative impact on funding that supports both our school system and Lake Station Schools.

The first meeting will be held tonight (1/14) at 6:00 PM at Rosser Hall, located at 1421 West 37th Avenue. This meeting will provide details about the proposal and outline the potential impacts. Community members are encouraged to attend to learn more and ask questions if they wish.

Additional meetings are scheduled for February 11 and February 25, with a vote planned at the final meeting to approve or reject the proposal.

There will also be a discussion meeting hosted by the Lake Station Council tomorrow at 6:30 PM at Lake Station City Hall, located at 1969 Central Avenue. This meeting will focus on the impacts of the proposed Fire Protection Territory.
