Today, we became aware through a screenshot that a TikTok video is circulating, listing several schools, including “Forest High School.” We value our community's commitment to the “see something, say something” approach. However, after investigating, we found that the video, originally from 2022, lists “Forest High School” among other schools that have unfortunately experienced school shootings. River Forest is not mentioned in the video. It appears the video was created to raise general awareness about this serious issue.
Unfortunately, someone with an RF logo as their profile picture shared an edited version of the video, cutting off context and pointing only to the word “Forest.” This has understandably caused concern among some community members. We want to assure you that the Lake Station Police Department is aware of the situation and has increased their presence around the district. We are grateful for their support and vigilance.
