River Forest Families, The State of Indiana has made constant changes and has not provided clear guidance for schools. We have heard many concerns from our families, teachers, and principals. Because of these reasons, and in consulting with our School Board, the River Forest School Calendar will be adjusted. Our first e-Learning Day will take place on Tuesday, August 25th. This will provide more time for schools to work with parents and students for registration, scheduling, and assist with their Chromebooks and technology. This will help to ensure that our new school year begins the best way that it can. Principals will be providing parents more detailed plans for each school. If you have not registered your children, please contact your school. To help support E-learning and child care, the Lake Station Boys & Girls Club will be open 6:30 am-6:30 pm. Staff will be providing virtual learning assistance and fun programming for members. Pre-registration is required along with weekly fees and a current membership. Attention RFCSC Parents, The Athletics and Extra-Curricular guidelines have been updated on our Return to Learn plan. The plan now states: "Students participating in extracurricular must be aware of guidelines afforded by IHSAA regarding eligibility requirements as they relate to the minimum number of periods students must attend class in-person to remain eligible for sanctioned participation when the schools are open. Meaning all students, whether students choose option A (attend class at school) or option B (attend eLearning/remote class) may participate in extra-curricular if they have completed a release form, meet IHSAA requirements of attendance in eLearning/remote class or in person class, and maintain eligibility. Congratulations to Ms. Kristina Ralston, River Forest School Corporation's Teacher of the Year! Dr. Pitcock shared these remarks about this exemplary teacher: "Kristina has been in the River Forest Community School District for 11 years as a teacher of Science. She currently also serves as Department Chair for her department. She is a student-centered educator with a tireless work ethic. Students have come to expect quality lessons and full utilization of instructional minutes. She is an advocate for students, parents, and colleagues. Kristina Ralston is one of the educators at River Forest High School setting the pace for student success."

Our 8th grade farewell is just around the corner. On Tuesday, June 2 from 4-6:30 the staff at RFMS will say goodbye to the class of 2024. The drive around "reverse parade" will take place between the hours of 4 and 6:30. Don't worry, it is not a 2 and a half hour ceremony. Families are encouraged to come any time between those hours. The parade circle will be located in the RF Football parking lot. Students will receive any awards from their academic teachers, winter sports awards from Mr. Wielgus, and receive their official Certificate of Completion from Mr. Horka and Mr. Milenkoff at the end. In practicing social distancing, students and families must stay in their vehicles and staff will only be able to take pictures with students next to their cars. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the main office.

Attention any student who borrowed a chromebook from the middle or high school or needs to return school related items: There will be two dates , Friday, May 29 and Monday, June 1. Both days the times for drop off will be from 9am to 1:30pm and will be at the middle school entrance by the MPR (closest to the river.) If you borrowed a chromebook please make sure to return the chromebook and the charger. Any high school student who is enrolled in summer school may keep their chromebook to use throughout the summer session.

The high school will be offering summer school this year and it begins Monday, June 8 and runs until Friday, July 10. HS summer school will be online using our A+ software, the same system we use for credit recovery. Summer school is open to any high school student who has failed a previous class and is looking to regain a credit.
